Ronald “Bud” Ernest Sumners of Prince Albert, Saskatchewan peacefully passed on June 7, 2025, at 82 years of age. He was a devoted husband to Deanne and a loving father to Curtis, Tracy, Ron, and Jason.
Dad was hardworking and dedicated. He spent many years as a successful contractor and businessman. He was known for one of his proudest achievements, the development of the picturesque “Southridge Estates” in Christopher Lake, Saskatchewan. Despite his many responsibilities he always made time for his family and passions.
Though Dad may not have liked being the centre of attention, he deserves to have his long years honoured. He was a man of integrity, kindness, and generosity, and he left a lasting impact on everyone who knew him.
Dad’s hobbies and interests helped define who he was. He enjoyed many winters soaking up the sun in Arizona with the love of his life and best friend, Deanne. When he wasn’t in Yuma you could find him on the golf course or on his pontoon boat with his beloved golden retriever, Tom. Dad’s love for heavy equipment never ended after his retirement either, as you could always find him out in his shop tinkering on something while sipping on his perfectly aged scotch.
His love for his family will leave a mark on us that will never fade. He is survived by his loving wife, Deanne; their children, Curtis Sumners and children, Bobbi Jo, Jesse, and Justine, Tracy (Tim) Gelysteen and child, Caitlin, Ron (Laurie) Sumners and children, Jordan, Zac, and Lizzy, and Jason (Mandy) Sumners and children, Nate and Luke; as well as eight great-grandchildren, extended family members, and many friends who will miss him dearly.
The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the wonderful staff of Kinistino Jubilee Lodge, Kinistino, SK, Saskatchewan Health Authority Home Care Services, and Access Transit Community Service. Your kindness and care are greatly appreciated. No public funeral services will be held, as per Ronald’s wishes.
