In Loving Memory of Michael Read
April 11, 1984 – May 5, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Michael “Mikey” Read, who left this world on May 5, 2025, at his home outside Prince Albert, Saskatchewan. He was 41 years old. His death came unexpectedly and without known cause, leaving a hole in the hearts of family and friends who loved him deeply.
Born on April 11, 1984, in Ontario, Mike moved with his family to Prince Albert at a young age and spent most of his life there. Known for his kind, gentle nature, Mike had a way of making everyone in his life feel valued and welcome.
Mikey was the beloved younger brother of Matthew and Andrew and the older brother of Graeme, who all survive him. He was also a proud uncle to his nieces and nephews, cherishing the time spent with them. More than family, Mikey was a devoted friend, and an unofficial uncle to the children of many of his lifelong friends. His friendships – especially those made during his job at Harold’s – stood the test of time, a testament to his loyalty and love for those around him.
Mikey worked for PA Photocopier for many years, where he was a valued and reliable employee. His coworkers admired his work ethic and friendly demeanor, qualities that earned him respect and appreciation across the workplace.
Mikey was a dedicated bowler, participating in the Minto bowling league. There, he formed lasting friendships and brought camaraderie to every game. Mikey also had a deep love for camping. Some of his happiest times were spent surrounded by friends, camping in the beauty of nature for weeks during the summer months.
Mikey’s passing has left his family and friends grieving for the loss of a man whose quiet warmth and kind heart touched everyone who was fortunate enough to know him. While his time was far too short, his impact will be felt for years.
A come and go celebration of Mikey’s life will be held at Minto Bowl, 201 13 St. E, Prince Albert, SK, from 2:30-5:00 p.m. on Saturday, June 7, 2025, where family and friends will gather to share stories, memories, and love in his honor.
Rest in peace, Mikey. You will forever be missed and always remembered.
