Our family is heartbroken to share the news of the passing of Bruce MacPherson Ratcliffe at 64 years old. Bruce was born in Burlington, ON, on February 22, 1961, and passed away peacefully at the Rose Garden Hospice in Prince Albert, SK, on May 30, 2025. Bruce is predeceased by his loving parents, William and Heather Ratcliffe. He leaves behind his two daughters, Kristi Ratcliffe (Harvey Smith) and Jessica McDonald; his son-in-law, Chad McDonald; his granddaughters, Alice and Gillian Rossetti; his siblings, Vicky Ratcliffe (Gordon Christian), Ian Ratcliffe (Carlynn Ratcliffe), and Angus Ratcliffe; and many more family members, friends, and loved ones who will dearly miss him.
Anyone who knew Bruce knows that he was a firecracker of a man. Bruce lived a full, vibrant life guided by the spirit of “work hard, play harder.” For the last 21 years, Bruce did shift work up north at Cameco’s McArthur River mine, before he retired in February 2025 from his last position there as Mine General Supervisor. When not at work, Bruce filled his life to the brim with all his favourite things: spending time with friends and family, hanging out around his seasonal campsite at Valley Regional Park, playing the slots, hunting and fishing (and berry-picking!), taking road trips to Vegas, and, of course, golfing up a storm.
Bruce might have appeared to some to have a tough exterior, but those who knew him well know he was the biggest mush at heart. He was a huge support for his daughters, family, and friends, always showering his loved ones with gifts of fish, deer sausage, blueberries, firewood, and other treats. His sense of humor was relentless: his quick-witted one-liners had his family, friends, and medical team laughing through the final days of his life. We will remember him most as his happiest self, after a good round of golf, dancing around to Aqua or Lady Gaga, volume up on his very own Party Rocker Max machine, Bud Light Platinum in hand, filling the campground with his big, beautiful laugh.
In lieu of other tributes, donations can be made in Bruce’s honour to the Rose Garden Hospice https://www.rosegardenhospice.ca/ in Prince Albert, SK, where Bruce was wonderfully cared for in the last stage of his life. Funeral Services are pending.
