ANAVETS: Supporting veterans for over a century

May 21, 2025 | 3:25 PM

The Army, Navy, and Air Force Veterans Club Unit #222  has been part of Prince Albert for over a century. It was created to support veterans and their families. Over time, it has become a gathering place for the community to meet, celebrate, and connect.

Recently, the club was renovated to improve the space and make it more inviting. Its purpose remains helping members stay connected and involved. The club won the 2025 BOB award for best nightlife venue, recognizing its role as a top entertainment spot. Paul Lomheim, the Director of Publicity, said, “We were proud to receive the BOB award, on Fridays, the dance floor fills with live music. This month, bands like Magnum, Mystery Train, Rebound, The Project, Carmen Robertson, and Dark Horse performed here.” These events bring people together for fun and dancing.

The club is more than just music and dancing. It is a place where community involvement is encouraged. Plus, it offers private parking and affordable drinks, and food.

The ANAVETS also host fundraisers, such as meat draws and have just wrapped up chase the ace, which support local causes and veteran programs.

The motto, “Shoulder to Shoulder,” reflects its focus on fellowship. Members gather for darts, pool, shuffleboard, and golf, or to participate in social events.

The club welcomes new members and is located at 25-11th Street West in Prince Albert. Anyone interested in joining, whether a veteran, newcomer, or someone seeking connection, is encouraged to visit. The club offers a place to meet, enjoy activities, and build friendships.

Over the years, the club has remained a key part of Prince Albert’s social scene. It’s more than just a place to go out; it’s a space where lifelong friendships form, community spirit thrives, and everyone feels welcome. With a long history, recent upgrades, and a commitment to fellowship, the Army, Navy, and Air Force Veterans Club continues to serve as a symbol of unity in the city. It strengthens bonds and creates lasting friendships, making it a true community hub in Prince Albert.
