Victoria Hospital History
Victoria Hospital 1899 – 2011
“The work to begin a the hospital really started in the late 1800’s, even before Prince Albert was a city and this area was still known as the North West Territories. A group of ladies decided it was time that Prince Albert had a Hospital.
These ladies named the Ladies Hospital Aid raised $1,244.72 from 1890 to 1899. In the summer of 1899, the ladies went to the town council of the day and requested permission to open a hospital. Not only did town council grant them the right to open a hospital, but also gave them $500 to help with the costs.”
The history of charitable donations from the community and support from the City of Prince Albert goes back more than 100 years.
