It is with heavy hearts that the family of Linus “Lin” Lang announces his peaceful passing on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at the Rose Garden Hospice in Prince Albert, SK. Lin was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and friend whose legacy of love, faith, and craftsmanship will be fondly remembered.
Lin is lovingly survived by his wife of 63 years, Lucille, and their children, Kelly (Bob) McDermott, Michael (Patty) Lang, and Joan (Bart) Dempsey. He will be forever cherished by his grandchildren, Mitchell (Tegan) McDermott, Lindsey (Garrett) Martin, Shelby (Lyndon) Clark, Harley Lang, Garrett, Caitlin, and Blake Dempsey; and by his great-grandchildren, Blake, Blaire, and Cade McDermott, Huxley and Beckham Martin, and Brielle Clark.
Lin is also survived by his sisters, Lorraine Schneider and Carol (Barry) Games; his brothers, Eddie (Linda) Lang and Jim (Mary) Lang; and extended family on Lucille’s side, Edward Fischer, Christine Hustins, Hugh (Karen) Gray, Art (Carol) Gray, Eileen Puetz, Ann (Doug) Puetz, Collette (Murray) Froess, and Liola Staub, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Anne Lang; in-laws, John and Helen Gray; sister-in-law, Jane Fischer; and brothers-in-law, Tony Schneider and Allan Staub.
Born on the family farm in Raymore, SK, Lin attended Wallenstein School and Campion College before beginning a lifelong career with the Bank of Montreal. Over the years, his work took him to 15 branches across three provinces. He married Lucille Gray on August 12, 1961, and together they built a beautiful life, raising a family and forging deep and lasting friendships.
Lin was a true jack of all trades—an exceptional carpenter, mechanic, and welder. If something needed building or fixing, he could do it, and if a tool didn’t exist, he would make it. He loved travelling, fishing, snowmobiling, and, above all, spending time with those he loved.
Faith was central to Lin’s life. Among his proudest accomplishments was the design and construction of Our Lady of the Blessed Sacrament Chapel, built with his own hands on their property at Candle Lake. He often said his greatest blessing was his family, and his chapel stands as a testament to his devotion and belief. Candle Lake, where faith, family, and countless memories were rooted, will be Lin’s final resting place.
The family extends their gratitude and heartfelt appreciation to the staff at Victoria Hospital and the Rose Garden Hospice in Prince Albert, SK, for their kindness, care, and compassion they showed Linus and our family in his final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Lin’s memory may be made to the Rose Garden Hospice, 500 38th Street West, Prince Albert, SK S6W 0A3, https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/26521
He will be deeply missed and forever remembered. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, 1401 4 Ave W, Prince Albert, SK. A time of fellowship and refreshments will follow.
