Ben Lemieux, a dedicated entrepreneur and longtime business owner, passed away on April 14, 2025 in the Rimbey hospital at the age of 88 after a brave battle with cancer.
Ben was born in Paradise Hill, Saskatchewan on April 3, 1937, the 6th of 10 children to Adolphe and Helene Lemieux.
He is lovingly remembered by his wife Lorraine of 41 years, his sons Michael (Athena) Lemieux, David (Robyn) Lemieux, three step daughters Brenda (Rory) Ethier, Tracey McHenry, and Michele Broom, along with his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He is survived by his three brothers, Len Lemieux, Vic (Janet) Lemieux, Roger (Jackie) Lemieux and his sister Bernie (Wendell) McRann. He was predeceased by his parents, his sisters Edna, Lorette, and Cloe, and brothers Larry Lemieux and Father Claude Lemieux, three brothers-in-law Ray Brunning, Ray Bzdell, and Don Regnier, as well as sisters-in-law Isabelle Lemieux and Jeanne Lemieux
Throughout his life Ben wore many hats. He began his professional journey in sales, later venturing into owning his own furniture and hardware store located in Fort McMurray, Alberta in the sixties.
Ben was also a dedicated community leader, serving as a President of the Kinsmen Club, and was a President of Toastmasters International in previous years.
Never one to settle, he then entered into the retail lumber business with his brothers in Saskatchewan and Alberta.
In addition to his work in retail sales, Ben along with his wife Lorraine owned and operated numerous restaurant locations in Saskatchewan, British Columbia and Alberta over the years.
Retiring from the hectic restaurant business, he then entered into the world of phone book advertising sales, a field that was “vital at the time”. Not savvy himself in technology, he never took no for an answer and pushed this form of advertising as this is what he knew.
Married in Hawaii, Ben and Lorraine shared a love of travel and adventure. Winters in Arizona, summers at their cottage on an island in La Ronge, Saskatchewan, making unforgettable memories with family and friends.
A passionate woodworker, Ben found joy in creating with his hands. His workshop was a place of pride filled with the scent of sawdust and the hum of creativity.
Known for his quick wit, kind heart and laughter, he will live on in our hearts forever.
