In Loving Memory
Jo-Ann Kaufhold passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, after a long battle with dementia.
She was predeceased by her parents, Ada and Joseph Kaufhold; and by her youngest daughter, Shauna. She is survived by her two eldest children, Duana Joubert (Stephen) and Ryan Martin (Stephanie); and by five beloved grandchildren: Kayla, Justin, Luke, Conner, and Riley. Jo-Ann also leaves behind her four younger siblings – Linda Vandale, Rob Kaufhold (Ellie), Tim Kaufhold, and Mark Kaufhold (Marnie) – as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She will also be deeply missed by her partner, Alan Baker with whom she shared 20 years.
Jo-Ann was born on May 7, 1955, in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. Her parents later purchased a home in the Nordale community of Prince Albert, SK, which became their family home. Jo-Ann held dear the treasured memories and adventures she shared with her siblings while growing up in the warmth of that home. She graduated from Carlton High School and later moved to Saskatoon to attend the University of Saskatchewan.
Jo-Ann was married in 1977 and had three children with her first husband. In 1986, the family moved to Winnipeg, where they planted roots. Jo-Ann worked hard to provide for her children, spending over 25 years in the service industry. Later in life, she made the brave decision to change careers, completing administrative assistant courses and starting a new chapter at Buhler Industries. She worked there for many years with diligence and pride, earning the admiration and respect of everyone who knew her through her strong work ethic and dedication.
Beyond her career, Jo-Ann had a lifelong love of reading, often escaping into the pages of her favourite books. She appreciated a good cup of coffee and a warm conversation, often paired with laughter among family and friends and she enjoyed walks and visits to The Forks. Her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren—she cherished every moment of laughter, learning, and love shared with them.
Jo-Ann touched the lives of many with her unwavering smile and caring heart. She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
The family would like to express heartfelt thanks to the staff at The Convalescent Home of Winnipeg for the care and compassion shown to Jo-Ann during her final years.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Jo-Ann’s name to the Children’s Hospital Foundation of Manitoba.
A celebration of life for Jo-Ann will be held with close family and friends; details will follow.
