It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John Raymond Leck on March 25, 2025, at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK, with family by his side.
John was born on December 19, 1929, in Cedoux, SK to parents John and Mary Leck. He was the oldest of two children. John met Phyllis (née Gunia), and they married on August 1, 1953. Mom and Dad had been married for 56 years before her passing in 2010.
John worked for the Department of Highways for 33 years, first in road construction operating heavy equipment and then as area maintenance supervisor until his retirement in 1987. His job took the family to various places throughout Saskatchewan until finally settling in Shellbrook, SK. After retirement, John worked occasionally grading roads for Weyerhaeuser, in the Big River, SK area, into his early 80’s. Later into his retirement years John relocated to Prince Albert, SK where he resided until his passing.
John enjoyed hunting, camping, fishing, and the many trips he and mom took with his sister and brother-in-law. He loved spending time with his family, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and grand-dogs. He enjoyed attending their sporting events and other activities as well as babysitting when needed. Often times you would see him in his vehicle with one of them accompanying him while he was either running errands or going for coffee; or while on his side by side just going for a leisurely ride.
John faced many health challenges in his life, and he fought a good fight until his passing where he can now join Mom and Michelle who will be waiting for him with open arms.
“Love you, take care going home”
John will be lovingly remembered by his son, Randy (Gayle) Leck; daughter, Denise (Andy) Bremner; son-in-law, Ward Sterling; sister, Joyce Reiser; his grandchildren, Tera (Aron) Gratias, Andrea (Todd) Weiss, Shay (Tommy) Gamble, Taylor Leck (Katie), Brittney Leck (Josh), Logan Bremner (Chloe), and Kendra Bremner (Matt); his great grandchildren, Skylar Gratias (Taralyn), Hayden Gratias (Zoe), Kaiden Weiss, Keiryn Weiss, Keehlin Weiss, Grady Gamble, Letty Gamble, and Olive Bremner.
