With great sadness, the McKay and Ebach families announce the passing of matriarch Flora-Anne “Flo” Ruby McKay on March 28, 2025.
Flora was born in Kinistino, Saskatchewan, and lived in Prince Albert, SK, for many years. She was a proud Métis woman and a founder of the Métis Nation of Saskatchewan. Flora supported the organization from its infancy as a non-status organization, to the founding of its constitution and locals. At Back to Batoche, she won many bannock and talent competitions for her singing. Flora led the Western Region Métis Women’s Association, and worked with the cultural committee of the Métis Nation of Saskatchewan for many years. In 2000, at Back to Batoche, the organization thanked her for decades of service with a gift of two novelty fiddles.
Flora was predeceased by her father, Colin McKay; mother, Marjorie McKay (née Plant); sisters, Rose Boyer, Freda Church, and Vera Servetnyk; and brothers, George McKay (her closest brother), Ken McKay, Dale McKay, Dave McKay, Frank McKay, and Gerald McKay. Flora is survived by her sister, Helen Herket; brothers, Wes McKay and Melvin McKay; daughter, Jo-Anne Ebach; sons, Vern and Mark Ebach; grandkids, Chris, Brandon, Jasmin, Roman, Bryson, and Kirya; and great-grandkids, Kaiden, Alina, and Carter.

A Celebration of Life for will be held for Flora at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, April 7, 2025, at River Park Funeral Home, in Prince Albert, SK, with Pastor Rick Martin officiating.
