Joseph John Lewis Deschambeault
February 1,1940 – March 27, 2025
It is with heavy hearts that the family announce the passing of Joseph on March 27, 2025, at the Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert, SK.
Joe was born on February 1,1940 in Birch Hills, SK, to the late Louis and Alvina (nee Letendre) Deschambeault. The family lived on some land that Louis had, just west of Struther’s Lake, SK (formerly Fishing Lake, SK). They later moved on to Strong Pine, SK, in 1949. This is where they lived the bush life, logging for a living at a very young age. Joe did many odd jobs throughout his lifetime, such as painting, bartending, and janitorial work while living in Alberta. He married Marion Burgess in November of 1991 in Delburne, AB. Shortly after she had passed in 1999, he moved back to Saskatchewan to be closer to his sister Irene and other family and friends.
Uncle Joe was a quiet guy, who always took pride in his appearance. He was always dressed so nicely, clean shaven and had his jet black hair combed just perfectly. The love for his cats was like no other. They were his pride and joy. Some things that Joe enjoyed doing were getting together with family for a meal, garage saling on the occasional weekend, playing guitar in his younger years, listening to country music, having coffee with his many close friends, and the odd time, hitting up the casino.
Joe is survived by his son, Dezi Deschambeault; his sister-in-law, Joyce Deschambeault; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives; as well as his close friends,Victor Carriere, Jack Umpherville, Eddie Wojcichowsky, Melvin McKay, and Norman Madland.
He was predeceased by his wife, Marion Deschambeault; his parents, Louis and Alvina Deschambeault; his sisters, Irene Sayese, Yvonne Deschambeault, Winnie Fiddler, Sylvia Umpherville, Eileen Bowman, Geraldine Ford, and Judy Bennett; his brothers, Aime Deschambeault, Albert Deschambeault, and Floyd Deschambeault; and his close friends, Mackie Lussier, and Josephine Fiddler.
The family would like to thank the staff on level 5 at the Victoria Hospital for the care provided to him in his final days.
A Service to Honor Joe’s Life will be held at the Glen Mary Church at 1:00 p.m., on Saturday, July 12, 2025, with interment to follow.
