Flight from police

P.A. pair arrested after police officer dragged by stolen car

Mar 13, 2025 | 4:29 PM

Two men from Prince Albert are in police custody after a car was stolen from a business south of the city and subsequently dragged a police officer who was trying to arrest the occupants.

RCMP from Prince Albert were alerted to the theft of the vehicle at 1a.m. yesterday morning after it was reported stolen from a business just south of the city boundary.

At 3 am, PA city police found the vehicle in a parking lot in the 3200 block of 2nd Ave. West and activated their emergency lights as the officer approached.

Rather than getting out of the vehicle, the driver backed into the patrol car and then fled south on 2nd Avenue outside of the city.

The driver did not stay out of town as PA officers found them again in the 1000 block of 17th Ave. West. hours later.

As the officer approached with the intention of arresting the female passenger, a man got into the driver’s seat and was told by the officer he was under arrest.

The driver accelerated away and dragged the officer a short distance before they managed to get away. No serious injuries happened as a result but, once again, the driver escaped at a high rate of speed.

PA officers found the vehicle a third time but it continued to drive through the city at a high rate of speed so officers did not pursue in the interest of public safety.

At 2:15 pm, RCMP found the vehicle on the Sturgeon Lake First Nation and again, the driver failed to stop when they should have. As officers continued to attempt to get the driver to pull over, the suspects instead drove into a ditch.

There, the passenger was arrested and the driver ran away but was later arrested without incident.

This morning, 36-year-old Darcie Caisse of Prince Albert appeared in court on one count of possession of property obtained by crime and fleeing police.

Brice Bird, age 25 and also from Prince Albert has more charges including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, possession of stolen property, flight from a police officer and resisting and obstructing police.

He also has two counts of not complying with release order conditions.

PAPS and Saskatchewan RCMP officers with Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan assisted with this investigation.
