Donna Marie Horpinuk

October 24, 1932 – March 3, 2025

With broken hearts the family of Donna Horpinuk announce her passing on March 3, 2025.

Donna was born October 24, 1932 in Nipawin, SK to parents George and Ruby Schmidt.  She lived on the farm north of Snowden, later moving in to the town of Choiceland.

In 1954 she married Bob Horpinuk and they had 4 children.  They lived in Prince Albert until 1961 when they moved to Shipman where they had purchased the Shipman Hotel.  Together they owned and operated hotels in Shipman and Meadow Lake and later a motel in Outlook for a couple of years.

Donna enjoyed family gatherings, golfing, and curling.  She curled in many bonspiels; travelling as far as Nelson, BC to curl in the summer.

Donna is survived by her two daughters, Maxine (Harvey) Balicki and Joni Horpinuk (Jason Burnell); her son Duane (Alison) Horpinuk; grandchildren Kevin (Linda) Balicki and Zachary Niles (Tyra Bear); great grandchildren Brady and Alexis Balicki; and sister-in-law Marilyn Schmidt.

Donna is predeceased by her husband Bob, parents George and Ruby Schmidt, her son Dean, grandson Bryce Balicki, her sisters Joy Baerwald and June Gisi, and brothers Ken and Blaine Schmidt.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, March 7, 2025 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575 28^th Street West, Prince Albert, SK
