Robbers had been given a ride by victim before truck theft: Police

Feb 26, 2025 | 2:38 PM

UPDATE: RCMP said on Thursday afternoon that they recovered the truck just south of Prince Albert late Wednesday evening. It was parked and no one was inside The thieves may now be driving in a black Kia car.

A truck that was stolen at gunpoint in the 900 Block of 2nd Street East early this morning was spotted by police 30 minutes later, but the driver fled into the rural area and has not yet been found.

Just before 5 a.m. this morning, Prince Albert Police officers learned that the complainant had given an unknown man and woman a ride, starting from a business in the unit block of Marquis Road West and going to 2nd Street East.

When they got to the destination, a van pulled up behind the Silverado and the woman passenger got out and went and talked to the van’s occupants.

The driver got out of the van and it was then that two men got out of the van with a gun and stole his truck.

About 30 minutes later, police found the stolen truck in the 1500 block of 15th Street West and attempted to have the driver pull over. Instead, they began to flee east bound on 15th Street at high speeds, heading out of the city on Highway 2 into RCMP jurisdiction.

A release from the RCMP earlier today said that the truck was last seen around St. Louis at 8:30 this morning but it has not been seen since.

Both police services are asking the public to report any sightings of the grey Silverado, but are warning people to not approach it as the occupants are likely armed.

Anyone with information, or who spots the suspect vehicle, is asked to immediately contact the RCMP by calling 310-RCMP or contact the P.A. Police Service at 306-953-4222.
