Timberjaks looking for upset against Delisle in round one of playoffs

Since the Timberjaks joined the PJHL in 2023, Prince Albert has failed to record a win against Delisle in ten matchups between them. The closest P.A. came to downing Delisle was on Dec. 23, 2023, when the Chiefs narrowly edged the Jaks, 6-5 in Delisle.

Corfmat said the best chance they have at winning the series is by wearing down their opponent and then try to keep things under control.

“They’re very offensive and not very physical. We can take the body on them, worry about our end first, score when we can and go from there. Try and have some low scoring games, [because] if we’re going to try and win like 8-7 and stuff like that, it’s just not going to happen.”

He added the team is an overall powerhouse, with top-end offence, defence, and goaltending.

“At the end of the day, they got a lot of older guys than we do – a little more experience. We just got to talk to our young guys and let them know that anything can happen in a three-game series.”

Game one of the ‘Survivor Series’ is set for Friday, Feb. 21 at the Delisle Centennial Arena while game two goes Saturday, Feb. 22 at the Northern Regional Rec. Centre (formerly Buckland Arena). A series-deciding game three will be played on Wednesday, Feb. 26 in Delisle if necessary.
