Ten people running for Chief at Muskoday First Nation

There appears to be lots of interest in the upcoming band election at Muskoday First Nation.

A total of 10 people are running for Chief including the incumbent Ronald M. Bear who is seeking a second term.

Also in the race are Beryl Bear, Corine Bear, Ted Bear, Ronald Bear, Jennifer Heimbecker, Wilma Jayne-Parks Isbister, Cori Pederson, Betty Prosper, Elaine Smith-Ross, and Robert Woods.

There’s also 24 people vying for the five council positions.

The nominations were finalized earlier this week.

Election day is March 25 and voting will take place at the band hall between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m.

Band members also have the option of mail-in ballots.

Whomever gets elected, will serve a two-year term.
