Online video sheds more light on bear spray incident

Sep 10, 2018 | 5:00 PM

A video has been posted online, showing what appears to be a teenage boy getting sprayed by bear mace, followed by a brawl involving two groups of teenagers.

The video, which has already been shared dozens of times, appears to be related to the same incident reported by Prince Albert Police on Friday. Emergency personnel were called to the Carlton Court Shopping Plaza around 12:50 p.m. that day. A 14-year-old boy was treated at the scene and released. Several other teens were also affected by the bear spray but did not require treatment. Police have identified a 12-year-old boy as a suspect.

The video, which paNOW cannot post due to the ages of the youth, shows an altercation between two teenage boys. When one involved in the fight gets bear sprayed, a group of boys attempts to intervene. At that point, a second group of boys gets involved and a fist fight breaks out between the two groups.

The person who posted the video claimed responsibility for the bear spray incident, and said he did it because he was being attacked. The user also posted a picture of the victim, moments after he was sprayed.

On Monday, Prince Albert Police told paNOW no charges were laid in connection to the incident and the investigation is still underway.

Carlton High School was put on a temporary lockdown as a result of the incident. In a letter sent to parents Friday, Principal Jeff Court said a non-Carlton student used bear mace and a handful of Carlton students were affected. All the famillies of the students involved were contacted by the school.
