Lorring Lawrence Nordquist passed away on January 12, 2025, in Shellbrook, SK at the age of 94 years old.
Lorring was born in Valbrand, SK area (north of Canwood, SK) and did his schooling at Summit Prairie School.
At 17 he decided to move to Milden, SK where he worked for a farmer (Ross Bricker). Ross and his family turned out to be lifelong friends until Lorring passed. Lorring worked at various jobs always taking pride in his work. He also did his basic training for the armed forces in Winnipeg.
One of Lorring’s jobs took him to Banff, Alberta where he met the love of his life, Joey. Three weeks after meeting they eloped in Calgary, AB and were married in 1955.
Two years later they began a family. They had six children. Lorre, Jerry, Darrel, Julie, Eric, and Brad. They lived and worked across the country but finally retired in the Canwood area in 1988. Lorring came from a musical family and carried on the tradition, then passed it on to his kids and now grandkids. Music was a huge part of his life and brought good times to many people.
After his wife Joey passed on, Lorring found another life companion with Doris Odegard. They shared many years and good times together.
Lorring will be lovingly remembered by his children Lorre and children Ryan, Laurie, and Kyle; Jerry (Bernice) and children Kimberly, Gerri Lynn, Joshua, Kayla, and Karla; Darrels wife Heather and children Devin, Jessica, Nicole, and Jordan; Julie and children Sunni, Brenna, Cory, and Erin; Eric (Sharleen) and children Sabrina (Ken) and Darcy (Erin); Brad and child Emma (Cody Ager); and all his friends who have him in their hearts. Lorring was predeceased by his wife Joey; Son Darrel; Grandson Calvin; Parents Helmer and Julia; Brothers Harold, Verner, and Dale; and his sisters Viola, Vera, and Laurine.
A Funeral Service will be held in Canwood at the Elks Hall on Saturday, January 25, 2025, at 2:00pm. Beau “Lac” Funeral Home officiated over the service. The special music will be provided by the family. The family will do the eulogy. In lieu of tributes, donations can be made in memory of Lorring to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (1738 Quebec Ave Unit 26, Saskatoon, SK S7K 1V9).
