It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Esther “Jane” Brown, who passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on January 6, 2025, at the age of 78 years at Mount Saint Joseph Care Home in Prince Albert, SK.
Jane will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 58 years, Gerald; her son Christopher (Dani) Brown; grandchildren Carly (Kaman Proudfoot) and Thomas (Elianna); and two great-grandchildren, James and Charley Jane. She also leaves to mourn two sisters, Linda (Keith) Coombs and Judy (Ken) Unruh; sister-in-law Heather (Wes) Michalchuk; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Jane was predeceased by her parents, Marie and John Loeppky; brother Denis; two infant brothers; and her grandparents.
Born in Warman, SK, on June 23, 1946, Jane spent her early years in Osler before the family moved to Saskatoon. She graduated from Bedford Road Collegiate in 1965 and embarked on a successful writing career, beginning at CKOM writing commercials and later moving to the advertising department at Federated Co-op. Jane and Gerald were entrepreneurs at heart, owning the Arrow Confectionary and later a resort at Delaronde Lake. Upon moving to Prince Albert, Jane’s talent for words flourished as she contributed to the Prince Albert Herald, Rural Roots, and penned numerous humorous and informative columns and articles featuring local artisans. A woman of many talents, Jane also received numerous awards at the Prince Albert Exhibition for her artistic creations and photography.
Jane requested that no formal funeral be held, preferring to be remembered for the vibrant life she lived. Her ashes will be laid to rest with her parents near Osler, SK, returning to the place where her story began.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful staff at Mont St Joseph for their exceptional care, compassion, and kindness shown to Jane and her family during her time there.
