Mintos fall to Blazers in first game back from break
The Prince Albert Mintos had a tough start to the new year on Wednesday night, falling 5-3 to the defending back-to-back provincial champions Saskatoon Blazers at the Art Hauser Centre.
The loss was P.A.’s fourth in a row, and first game since Dec. 22.
The Mintos jumped out to 2-0 following the first period thanks to markers from Luke Senick and Carter Cole, but the script was flipped in the second when the Blazers answered back with a pair of goals of their own to tie it 2-2 entering the third.
There, Saskatoon kept on the gas and converted early, scoring less than 2:30 into the frame with a powerplay marker from Prince Albert Raiders’ prospect Eric Grandberg. Shortly after, the Blazers struck twice more scoring 31 seconds apart, making it 5-2.
