P.A. Police: ‘There truly is no excuse for impaired driving’

Dec 24, 2024 | 5:00 PM

Two check stops this month helped the Prince Albert Police Service take eight impaired drivers off public roadways.

Members of the Combined Traffic Services Saskatchewan in Prince Albert, along with Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), stopped 150 vehicles on Dec. 14 leading to four impaired drivers being removed from the road. On Dec. 20, another check stop was conducted and 170 vehicles were stopped leading to the discovery of another four impaired drivers.

In a press release, the police service said with Christmas and New Year’s still to come, officers will be out in the community once again working to keep the community safe from impaired drivers. In partnership with SGI and MADD, members will continue to hand out incentives to motorists driving sober and complying with the Traffic Safety Act.

‘There truly is no excuse for impaired driving; find a safe ride, call a sober friend or family member, take a taxi, or stay the night,’ the release read.
