P.A.’s Zablocki named to Team Canada for U18 Women’s World Championships

A Prince Albert hockey prodigy will once again don the maple leaf on the international level.

Stryker Zablocki was named to Team Canada for the 2025 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship on Tuesday, the second straight year she’s been named to the team.

Along with four others, Zablocki returns to the international spotlight after helping Canada claim bronze in last year’s tournament, where they defeated Finland 8-1 in Zug, Switzerland. The Prince Albert born forward finished the 2024 championships with two goals and five assists in six games.

Zablocki will also be joined by 14 other former Team Canada teammates who competed in a three-game series against the United States this past summer, where Canada beat the U.S. two games to one. Zablocki had two goals to go with four penalty minutes across the three contests.

“This roster represents the building blocks for Canada’s National Women’s Program, and we are excited for these young athletes to proudly represent our country in Finland,” said Cherie Piper, Canada’s senior manager of player development and scouting. “Being named to Team Canada represents years of hard work and dedication. We are incredibly proud of their growth and we look forward to watching them progress in their hockey careers.”

Canada will be joined by Czechia, Slovakia and Switzerland in Group B at this year’s championships, while Group A will feature Finland, Japan, Sweden and the United States.

This season, Zablocki is playing south of the border and finishing her final year high school in the U.S., playing at the U19 AAA level for the Bishop Kearney Selects in New York.

As of the publication of this article, the BK Selects are the number two ranked team in the United States at U19 AAA, donning a record of 36-3-0 (W-L-OTL), according to myhockeyrankings.com.

The 2025 IIHF U18 Women’s World Championship will played from Jan. 4-12 in Vantaa, Finland.
