Phyllis Gerow
1940 ~ 2024

Phyllis Lorraine Gerow (née Craig), late of Saskatoon, SK, passed away at the age of 84 years at Oliver Lodge on December 8, 2024, after a courageous 2-year battle with dementia.

Phyllis was born in Tisdale, SK, on August 27, 1940, to Ogilvie and Jesse Craig. From her birth until 1969 Mom lived on the farm in the Salopian district, Eldersley, and Tisdale along with her older brother and 2 younger sisters.

On April 17, 1965, Mom married her ‘knight in shining armor’ Mal Gerow, together they had one daughter, Connie and one son, Doug. From 1969 to 1979 Mom and Dad moved around a bit, Prince Albert, Meadow Lake and finally settling in Shellbrook in the summer of 1979. For the next 23 years Mom kept herself busy raising her family, running a home daycare and janitorial for the local Credit Union. Mom also had a busy social life as they were involved in the Shellbrook Kinsmen/Kinette Club and were also able to vacation several times in Mexico and Las Vegas with a very special group of friends.

Phyllis is survived by her daughter, Connie Gerow (David Medve) and son Nicholas Medve as well as Connie’s son Matthias Manicke (Caitlyn & daughter Keyleth); her son, Doug Gerow (Colette) their children, Danielle Weisbrod (Sean & sons Emmitt and Isaac), Robyn Gerow (Zachery Hunter) and Darcy Gerow; her sister, Eileen Clunie; her sister and brother-in-law, Frances and Don Jones; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Phyllis was predeceased by her husband of 34 years, Mal Gerow; her parents, Ogilvie and Jesse Craig; her mother-in-law, Viola Gerow; her brother and sister-in-law, Warren and Faye Craig; her brother-in-law, Gordon Clunie; and her sister-in-law, Carol Taylor.

In keeping with the family’s wishes, a Celebration of Life will be held in the spring/summer. In lieu of other tributes, donations in memory of Phyllis made be made to the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan or Diabetes Canada.
