She went to school in Ferland, Gravelbourg and completed her grade 12 at Nutana Collegiate in Saskatoon. In 1958, she started working at Saskatchewan Government Telephones where a coworker set her up on a blind date with a young man named Arnold Goodwin. In 1976, they bought land and moved to Spruce Home. In 2020, Julie and Arnie sold and moved back into Prince Albert.
Julie had many jobs throughout the years. She worked for Dr. Pellerin (an optometrist), the Prince Albert Daily Herald, Saskatchewan Training School, Remnant Shop (manager), Gulf Gas Bar and Eaton’s. Julie had a very active life spending summers at the cottage and golfing in Waskesiu, curling and bowling in the winter and singing bass for many years with the Sweet Adelines.
