With heavy hearts, we announce the sudden passing of Kathy Thorpe on November 24, 2024. Kathy was a beloved daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and friend.
Kathy’s life was not defined by grand achievements but by the deep, meaningful connections she made with others. She had a remarkable ability to befriend everyone she met, often making an impression on strangers and forming lasting relationships wherever she went. Kathy’s love for people, especially children, was evident in the way she cherished spending time with her many nieces, nephews, cousins, and their children. Kathy was a social butterfly, always busy with her groups, outings, shopping trips, or coffee and meals with friends. She was a devoted member of her church community and took pride in her cooking, often sharing her daily menu with loved ones. Her memory was impressive, and she never forgot a name, birthday, or anniversary. She adored holidays, special occasions, and giving presents to others. Kathy also loved to talk on the phone, calling so many daily to hear the news of the day.
Kathy’s life was made more difficult by the challenges of a disability, but she admirably never seemed to let those limitations get her down. Even as her health problems worsened later in life, she maintained a positive attitude, never dwelling on what she couldn’t do. She could, at times, be a challenge but those who knew her understood that her intentions were always good, and she truly meant well.
Kathy was indeed a good, caring person who will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by her mother, Delores Thorpe; her siblings Wendy (Alan) Weir, Danny Thorpe, Penny (Tom) Mitchell-Molyneux, and Kim (Kathy) Thorpe; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Kathy was predeceased by her father, Ronald Thorpe, and her sister-in-law, Elizabeth Thorpe.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the many individuals who offered their kindness, patience, and friendship to Kathy over the years.
A private family celebration of Kathy’s life and internment will be held at a later date. To leave condolences for the family please visit http://www.saskfunerals.ca
