In Loving Memory of Celine Ward
Celine Ward, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024, after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Born on August 18, 1944, in Tisdale, Saskatchewan, Celine was a vibrant soul who filled the lives of those around her with joy and compassion. She grew up in Zenon Park alongside her 15 beloved siblings and carried with her the values of love and family that defined her life.
Celine pursued her passion for learning by attending Robertson Secretarial School in Saskatoon, where she laid the foundation for a fulfilling professional life. After beginning her career at Moyer School Supplies, she later joined Sears, where she worked for over 25 years before retiring.
It was during her time at Moyer School Supplies that she met the love of her life, George. They married in 1966 and built a wonderful life together in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, where they raised their two sons, Scott and Marc.
Celine found great joy in the simple pleasures of life—spending sunny summers at Emma Lake, cheering on her boys at the hockey rink during the winter, tending to her beautiful garden, playing cards with friends, and, of course, enjoying the music that brought her heart so much happiness. The annual Lalonde family reunion was always a highlight for her, as it brought the extended family together to celebrate their shared love and memories.
Celine is survived by her devoted husband, George; her son Scott(Darla); her grandsons Eric and Ryan; her son Marc; and her siblings Denise(Emile) Bussiere, Julien(Janice) Lalonde, André(Marie Anne) Lalonde who was predeceased by his first wife Anita, Irène Lalonde, Laurent(Gail Carlson) Lalonde, and Monique Lalonde, along with many beloved nieces and nephews.
She is predeceased by her loving parents, Adrienne and Théodule Lalonde, along with her cherished siblings: Claude(Norma) Lalonde, Gabrielle(Albert) Houle, Estelle(Paul) Fortier, Léonard(Dorothy) Lalonde, Richard(Vivien) Lalonde, Serge(Annie) Lalonde, Gaston Lalonde, Aurèle(Louise) Lalonde, and Victorien(Sharon) Lalonde.
In honor of Celine’s memory, a private graveside service will take place at South Hill Cemetery, followed by a Celebration of Life in the summer, where family and friends can gather to remember her with love.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Saskatchewan (https://alzheimer.ca/sk/en), continuing Celine’s legacy of care and compassion for others.
