Not guilty pleas in Prince Albert bar brawl case

Nov 12, 2024 | 4:00 PM

Nearly seven months after a brawl outside a Prince Albert night club, comes confirmation that all four of the people arrested and charged will face trial.

Dustin Shier, Terrance Shier, and Shantelle Bonik (Fizzard) all appeared Tuesday afternoon at Prince Albert Provincial Court and sat quietly as their lawyer Estes Fonkalsrud entered not guilty pleas on their behalf.

All three are facing four separate counts of assault causing bodily harm. None are in custody.

Trial dates have not yet been set, but Fonkalsrud indicated he was looking at dates between March and June of next year. The case was adjourned to Thursday to confirm the details.

The incident from April 21 involved an altercation between members of the public and bar security at Fuel Stop, and was recorded by multiple cellphones and shared hundreds of times on social media.

A copy of the video was provided to paNOW. (Facebook)

Parkland Ambulance attended and treated two victims at the scene. Two additional victims were transported to the Victoria Hospital for treatment as their injuries were serious but not life threatening.

At the time of their investigation, police said a group of people attended the business and their entry was denied. When business staff attempted to escort members of the group out of the bar, they were assaulted.

Speaking with paNOW, on the condition of anonymity, one of the two men sent to hospital confirmed their attackers refused to pay cover charge.

Further explaining how they managed to keep the fight outside, the victim also stated as many eight men and one woman attacked the staff.

“Unfortunately with the things that took place I did give my resignation, just because it’s not worth losing my life over anything like that,” he said, adding even now he is affected mentally, constantly looking over his shoulder, fearing someone may be coming after him.

Another of the accused, 27-year-old Jordan McDougall, who is facing two charges of assault causing bodily harm, previously entered not guilty pleas and will be tried at Prince Albert Provincial Court on January 7.
