Vigilante father committed for trial on second degree murder
A man accused of murdering his son’s alleged killer will be tried at Court of King’s Bench in Prince Albert on a charge of second degree murder.
Reginald Durocher appeared in person Monday afternoon at provincial court for the decision on the preliminary inquiry hearing. He had initially been charged with first degree murder and throughout the hearing, sat with his head down, listening intently to the judge.
Due to a publication ban, neither the evidence discussed during the preliminary inquiry or the judge’s reasons for committing Durocher on the lesser offence, can be published.
Normally however for a case to be committed on first degree, there must be strong enough evidence to show planning or some form of deliberation.
