Carjackings connected, police say four suspects involved and victims assaulted

Oct 18, 2024 | 1:32 PM

Two carjackings last night on the highway into Prince Albert are being investigated as connected, said the Prince Albert Police.

PAPS is working with the RCMP to investigate the incidents and said one of the vehicles has been recovered and is being processed.

Around 4:45 yesterday evening, suspects threatened the first two victims with a gun in the RM of Garden River and stole their red 2005 Dodge Dakota pickup.

Almost one hour later, the suspects in the red Dodge were near the north parking lot of Little Red River Park when they robbed two more people of the black 2013 Kia Sportage (license plate 803 MKY)

In the second incident, both victims were assaulted, with one person needing hospital care for serious injuries afterwards. Their injuries are not life-threatening.

Shortly after that, the stolen vehicles were involved in a crash on the Diefenbaker Bridge and the suspects then fled the scene.

The Dodge is being examined by police, but the Kia is still unaccounted for.

Three of the suspects are male and the fourth person is female. All four are Indigenous.

One of the males was wearing a red shirt, had many tattoos and a second male was seen in a dark hoodie.

All of the male suspects are described as tall and thin.

The public is being advised to consider the suspects armed and dangerous and should not approach any of them. Suspicious persons or sightings of the vehicle should be reported to police.

PAPS is also increasing patrols in the area, especially around Little Red River Park to ensure public safety and help with the ongoing investigation.

Information about these incidents or the whereabouts of the suspects can be reported to the Prince Albert RCMP at 310-RCMP or the Prince Albert Police Service at 306-953-4222.
