Roger “Kent” Worth
1962 – 2024
Kent was born November 25th, 1962 in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. He passed away on October 8th, 2024 in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan.
Some may be surprised in reading that his first name is Roger, but don’t you dare call him that, you would be met with “That’s my father’s name!”.
His charisma and likeability would often result in new friendships with those who were strangers moments ago. If it wasn’t his blatant likeability, it would be his Dad jokes, cheesy puns, and witty banter that would reel you in.
He would not hesitate to share stories from his Carlton days, SIAST days, or his recent encounters through work.
His passions were quite obvious in his life, they included golfing, traveling, socializing with friends and family, and enjoying food. His Maritime roots would shine through when he would discuss food or cooking. He was always brainstorming ways to build more momentum for the local ANAVETS Chapter in Prince Albert and crossing his ring adorned fingers that his name would be called for the fundraising meat draws.
He held himself within high regard when it came to working at MBC Radio for over 20 years. He lived to help others become the best they could be within music, local business, and identifying the purpose in their pursuits. At times, his critical thinking and dynamic creativity seemed to be a superpower of Kent’s.
Kent had a loving passion for surrounding Indigenous communities and the people who hailed from them. He would attend events, support the advancement of Indigenous initiatives, and never shy away from confrontation of others within their biases. He truly believed in the beauty that is held within the culture.
Kent was a huge fan of supporting local businesses believing that when he connected with a local business such as 40th Street Grill in Prince Albert or Martodam’s in Meadow Lake, you got his loyalty and commitment for the future. He would often say he didn’t mind paying a bit extra to support them because he knew the funds were going to local families.
Lastly, his family was one of his main loves within life itself, often telling others of his gratitude and the pride he held for them. He would especially love telling stories or jokes with his family, and would never end a call without telling them “I love you”.
His fond and kind hearted memory will be survived by his sister Susan (Roger) Dusseault, his daughter Mikayla (Chris Larocque) Worth, his girlfriend Sharon Stead, beloved Deanna Worth, his niece Madison Dusseault, his nephew Ethan (Kylie) Dusseault, his cousins Lisa Bernard and Jeff Sharpe, and the friends he had acquired in many communities during his journey.
His family takes great comfort in knowing he was lovingly received by his departed family including his parents Roger and Arlene Worth, his cousins Krista Sharpe Brue and Nancy Bernard Read, his dog Andy, and his grand-dog Willow.
The Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., on Tuesday, October 15, 2024 at St. Alban’s Anglican Cathedral, 1410 Bishop McLean Crescent, Prince Albert, SK.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider a donation in Kent’s memory to the Prince Albert, SPCA, https://princealbertspca.ca/; or to your local SPCA.
