Police arrest man carrying butcher knife
A Prince Albert police officer drew a Taser after a suspect carrying a knife refused to comply with commands early Sunday morning.
Officers were called to 12th St. W. and First Ave. W. for a weapons call shortly after midnight June 2. According to a police spokesperson, when officers located the suspect he initially kept his hands in his pockets and refused to comply with their orders. The suspect became much more compliant and surrendered, police said, after an officer withdrew a Taser and repeated the commands.
Police said the suspect, a 52-year-old Prince Albert man, was found to be carrying a large butcher knife. He was charged with possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and carrying a concealed weapon. The suspect, who is presumed innocent at this stage, was scheduled to make his first appearance this morning in Prince Albert Provincial Court.
