VIDEO: New sushi restaurant opens in PA

Mar 20, 2013 | 6:28 AM

Prince Albert’s first sushi restaurant has finally opened after a long delay due to construction problems.

Sushi House is a Japanese-Korean fusion restaurant that specializes in sushi, said owners Henry and Sarah Ham.

Henry has worked at a Japanese restaurant in Regina for the last three years, but decided Prince Albert would be a good place to open his own business.

The biggest challenge for the couple, aside from dealing with the construction delays, has been finding staff. They posted ads on Kijiji but received no applications until Thursday, just a few days before they were scheduled to open. However, they now have a full complement of wait staff who work “very hard,” said Sarah.

The first week has been busy but the Hams have noticed that the people in Prince Albert know more about sushi then one might think, “I think they know sushi very well, I was surprised, they eat sashimi, nigiri…,” she said.

The most popular orders in the first week have been dynamite rolls and deep fried California rolls, said one of the servers.

The restaurant is located on 15th Street East near Central Avenue.
