With direction from Willow Cree Health Services (WCHS), the incumbent will support and adhere to the Mission/Vision of the organization to provide services to the community of Beardy’s & Okemasis Cree Nation (BOCN).
The Mental Health & Addictions Community Outreach Worker is responsible for providing holistic care to BOCN community members who are impacted by problematic substance use and mental health challenges.
The Mental Health & Addictions Community Outreach Worker will provide services including counselling to adults, advocacy, case management, addiction assessments, aftercare planning and
program facilitation. The Mental Health & Addictions Outreach worker will facilitate the detox and treatment application process. This position is part of a multi-disciplinary team within the scope of the mental health and addiction program. Multi-disciplinary work will include program support to other members of the mental health team, as needed.
Bachelor Degree in Social Work or Indian Social Work; (minimum requirement) and/or
Diploma or Degree in Addictions Counselling/Studies
Extensive mental health and substance use disorder knowledge
Experience working with adult clients with addictions & knowledge of treatment options; Experience facilitating case management for clients & to work effectively within a case management team
Current CPIC and Vulnerable Sector Check;
Valid Saskatchewan Class 5 Driver’s License.
Previous experience in outreach work or related field preferred.
Excellent group facilitation skills;
Excellent written and oral communication skills; and,
Ability to communicate and interface with community resources, (eg, Rehabilitation treatment Centres/Detox facilities)
