Thomas Charles Sandbeck

It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Thomas Charles Sandbeck, late of Spiritwood, SK on August 20, 2024, at the age of 95 years. Thomas was born in Mossbank, SK on September 1st, 1928, and was known to family and friends as Tom.
Tom’s parents Christina and Arthur moved from Mossbank, SK to four miles north of Smeaton. This is where he lived with his three brothers and three sisters. They were born in Mossbank, on the homestead, or in the Smeaton hospital. All the children received their country schooling at Elkhart School and attended high school in Smeaton, SK.
In 1951, Tom met his wife Gwenth at the hospital in Smeaton, where she was a nurse. They were married on January 25th, 1952. Tom and Gwen raised a family of three children Linda, David & William. In 1952, Tom worked at the Smeaton garage, as well as for several grain companies purchasing grain. Tom was transferred to Iffley, Robin Hood, and Foxford during his years of grain buying. Tom and Gwen moved to Prince Albert so Tom could work at the jail, then the Saskatchewan Penitentiary as a guard until he retired in 1982.
Tom wintered in Arizona for many years and enjoyed fishing and hunting. Over the latest years, Tom had a wonderful and plentiful garden. Tom supplied neighbors, friends, and the Senior’s Centre with lots of produce.
Thomas is survived by his children William Sandbeck; David (Dianne) Sandbeck; & Linda (Garth) Lisko; his granddaughter Kimberly (Troy) Kipling, his great-grandsons, nieces and nephews; his sister Audrey Sandbeck.
Thomas was predeceased by his wife of 41yrs Gwenth (passed in 1993); his dear friend and companion Dorothy Porter (Passed in 2021); his parents Arthur and Christina Sandbeck; his brothers Vernon (Peggy), Arnold (Eileen), Mel (Doreen) Sandbeck & Hans (only lived a day) his youngest sisters Elaine Buchanan and Doreen Svare.
The family wishes to send many Thanks to the following: Dr. Craig Cantin his family doctor, Victoria Hospital Prince Albert, SK: Shellbrook Hospital: Spiritwood and District Health Complex Long Term Care: A very special Thank You to Maria Cimafranca & John Go (LPN) who were Dad’s main caregivers at the home.
In place of flowers, donations may be made to the donor’s choice. The Interment will take place at Memorial Gardens Cemetery on September 21, 2024, at 10:00 AM in Prince Albert, SK, where Tom will be laid to rest with his beloved wife Gwenth. The family wishes to invite everyone for lunch to follow at the Days Inn Marquis Room, 140 Marquis Road West, Prince Albert, SK. Arrangements in care of MacKenzie Chapel & Crematorium.
