Yager signs entry level deal with Penguins

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced earlier this week that they signed WHL Champion Brayden Yager to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Yager, a Saskatoon product, grew up and began playing hockey in Prince Albert until his family moved back to Saskatoon when he was 11-years-old.

The 19-year-old was selected 14th overall by the Penguins in the 2023 NHL Draft and has spent the last four seasons as a member of the Warriors. Yager finished this past season with 95 points (35G-60A) and ranked third (11G-16A) in the playoffs en route to a WHL Championship.

At the Memorial Cup in Saginaw, he finished with six points (3G-3A) in four games and was named to the tournament’s All-Star Team. Additionally, he was named the WHL’s Most Sportsmanlike Player in 2023 and 2024. He also represented Canada at the 2024 World Junior Championship and ranked second in team scoring with five points (2G-3A) in five games.

Since his WHL debut in 2020-21, Yager has tallied 104 goals, 146 assists for 250 points in 211 career WHL games.
