Street Fair extravaganza set to captivate Prince Albert

Prince Albert residents are in for a treat Saturday as the Prince Albert Downtown Business Improvement District gears up for its annual Street Fair.

Festivities kick off at 10 a.m. with a parade led by the Highlander Pipes and Drum Band starting at 14th Street and Central Avenue They’ll be joined by Ballet n’All that Jazz and the Performing Arts Warehouse. Around 11th Street, choir singers from Big Noise, Resonate, and Reverb will serenade the crowd with ‘O’Canada.’

Admission to the Historical Museum will be free, along with horse and wagon rides leaving from the museum parking lot.

There will also be three kid zones scattered throughout the area with inflatables, face painting, balloon sculptures, and more. Sports enthusiasts can join the Prince Albert Special Olympics for puck-shooting, while vintage car aficionados can admire the classic vehicles showcased by the Klassic Kruizer Kar Klub on 10th St. E.

A new addition to this year’s festivities, Ren Faire Alley, will offer a unique shopping experience with vendors embracing a medieval and renaissance theme. Power 99 FM in partnership with PRT Forest Nursery will distribute seedlings to guests of the Street Fair. Tim Coleman will perform street magic and spray paint artist Lorne Oliver will be displaying his work.

There will also be a pig roast care of Kevin Sawicki from Fat Belly Sausage. Entertainment will continue throughout the day and there will be over 170 spaces filled by local businesses, non-profit organizations, and vendors.

Organizers say this year’s Street Fair promises to be the biggest yet.
