Betty Barbara McClintick
April 29, 1924 – March 26, 2024
Betty Barbara McClintick (nee Beadle) passed away peacefully in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, shortly before her 100th birthday. Born in London, England, in 1924, she met Lorne, her husband of 62 years, when he was stationed there during WWII. They married in 1944, and she arrived in Canada as a War Bride In 1946. She lived a long and full life in Canada, having 5 children, creating a welcoming home and beautiful gardens wherever the family was posted. Betty proudly designed their retirement home in Emma Lake, Saskatchewan, where she and Lorne lived for many years before moving to Saskatoon, then finally to Prince Albert.
Mum loved music, art, and reading, and was a committed lifelong learner. A woman of many talents, she expressed her creative spirit through painting, singing, poetry, sewing, and her remarkable gardens. She enjoyed lively political debate, baked delicious whole grain bread, and was passionate about ballroom dancing. Betty maintained close ties with her family and friends in England, and never lost her strong English identity.
Betty was predeceased by her husband Lorne, daughter Susan, granddaughter Melissa Jane, her parents, and her brother George. She is survived by her four children, Lynne McClintick, Wendy (Verden) Jeancart, June McClintick, and Jonathan (Christine) McClintick, 8 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. She will be sadly missed by those who knew and loved her.
In accordance with her wishes, a private funeral service was held in Saskatoon on April 2, 2024.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the first responders, staff at Victoria Hospital, and Saskatchewan Home Care, all in Prince Albert, for their kind and compassionate care of Betty at the end of her life.
