Sister Albina Labonté
1940 ~ 2024
Sr. Albina Labonté was born at the Holy Family Hospital, in Prince Albert, SK, on May 30, 1940.
Sr. Albina leaves to mourn: the members of her religious community; cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents: Henri Labonté and Lucienne Pelletier.
She lived in Victoire until 11 years old and then moved to Debden to finish her elementary school. She attended Stobart School in Duck Lake to finish her high school. In 1958 she joined the Sisters of the Presentation of Mary, did her training in Quebec before returning to Sask. in 1961. She taught for 11.5 years, in Manitoba: Le Pas and Birtle School. She then taught in Prince Albert at Academy Presentation of Mary. In 1974 Sr. Albina had a change of career, obtaining a diploma of Applied Arts in Nursing at Kelsey Institute in Saskatoon. She nursed for 21 years. She started at the Holy Family Hospital and continued her nursing with our sisters at our Infirmary.
Sr. Albina continued her training as a Spiritual Director and worked as a Parish Administrator at Sts Martyrs Canadiens in Saskatoon. In 2004 to 2010 Sr. Albina became the Provincial Assistant in Prince Albert. Sr. Albina will be remembered for her 26 years of wonderful drama productions done with her students. We also remember the many hours she spent in the gardens taking care of the flowers that she loved so much.
In November 2023 as her health was failing and she needed more care she moved to our Personal Care Home at 3101 3rd Ave East in Prince Albert until God called her home for her eternal reward. Throughout her faith journey she has touched many lives through her spiritual accompaniment and by her love of the arts, her organizational skills, and her creativity. She will be fondly missed by her religious congregation, relatives, students and friends. May she rest in God’s love and peace.
