Charges laid after violent brawl outside Prince Albert night club

Some serious charges have been laid in connection to a brawl that occurred earlier this month outside the Fuel Stop bar in Prince Albert.

Dustin Jay William Shier, 28, appeared Tuesday morning at Prince Albert Provincial Court, and is facing four counts of assault causing bodily harm.

Shier, who has no criminal record, was released from custody with a number of conditions including a deposit of $150; an order to not attend any bars or liquor stores; and not possess any weapons. His next scheduled court date is on May 15.

The incident from April 21, involving an altercation between members of the public and bar security, was recorded by multiple cell phones and shared hundreds of times on social media. After being beaten to the ground, one of the bouncers is then kicked by a woman.

According to a statement provided by police, at approximately 1:07 a.m., officers responded to a report of an assault in progress.

“Patrol members attended and learned four staff members had been assaulted and the suspects had fled,” the police stated.

Parkland Ambulance attended and treated two victims at the scene. Two additional victims were transported to the Victoria Hospital for treatment as their injuries were serious but not life threatening.

From the investigation, police believe a group of people attended the business and their entry was denied. Business staff attempted to escort members of the group out of the bar and were assaulted.

A second person has also been charged but has not yet been arrested. A warrant for arrest has been issued for a 50-year-old man.

“Police continue to investigate and anticipate additional arrests,” the statement said, adding anyone with information about this incident is encouraged to report it.

Speaking with paNOW, on the condition of anonymity, one of the two men sent to hospital confirmed their attackers refused to pay cover charge.

Further explaining how they managed to keep the fight outside, the victim also stated as many eight men and one woman attacked the staff.

“Unfortunately with the things that took place I did give my resignation, just because it’s not worth losing my life over anything like that,” he said, adding even now he is affected mentally, constantly looking over his shoulder, fearing someone may be coming after him.
