Marie Laura Georget
Born: Nov 8, 1933 passed away peacefully April 20, 2024
Marie was born in Radville, SK to Aristide and Orise Bourassa. She was 9th in a family of 12 children. At a young age the family moved to Laventure, SK located between Spiritwood and Leoville.
After school she moved to Prince Albert to work at Kresge store. At a dance she met her partner Oliva (Ti-Va) Georget and married him on her birthday Nov 8, 1954. They then settled on the homestead farm northeast of Domremy where they raised three boys.
Tragedy struck when dad suddenly passed away on Jan 7th, 1981. Mom moved into the village of Domremy until 2012. During those years mom had a new companion Matt Roy. They liked to socialize, play cards, go fishing, and go to countless dances. We always appreciated the Roy family for welcoming mom into their homes. Matt passed away December, 2011. Norbert her youngest son passed away Jan 24, 2012. Mom moved to Saskatoon to be closer to her oldest son Claude and his family.
Mom was very active in the community of Domremy. She belonged to the CWL, Rec Board, and the Senior’s Club. For many years she organized workers for the bingos in Prince Albert. She was also the first woman councillor on the Domremy Village Council.
Mom loved to socialize, play cards, dance, sew, knit, and spend time at Domremy Beach.
She was predeceased by her parents Aristide and Orise Bourassa, her in-laws Joe and Adelia Georget, her husband Oliva, her son Norbert, and her special friend Matt Roy, 10 siblings and numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.
Left to mourn are her sons Claude (Karen) Georget of Saskatoon, Allan (Paulette) Georget of Spirit River AB, her grandchildren Nicole (Evan) Anderson of Regina, Derek Georget of Calgary, Joel (Jasmine) Georget of Nelson, B.C. Renelle Georget (Luis) of Ottawa, ON, her great-grandchildren Ankaret and Kaitlin Georget, Brooklyn Anderson, her youngest brother Aurel (Frank) Bourassa of B.C., numerous sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews.
Funeral service will be held at St. Jeanne d’Arc Roman Catholic Church in Domremy at 11 am, April 26.
Mom will be interred at a later date with her husband Oliva and son Norbert at Prince Albert Memorial Gardens.
The family would like to extend a huge thank you to all the great staff at the three hospitals in Saskatoon and the Hospice at Glengarda
