John Jack Langford
1944 ~ 2024
It is with broken hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dad/papa Jack Langford. Sunday, February 25, 2024, only a week after his 80th birthday.
Jack was born in Kalyna, SK, on February 18, 1944, to complete the family. He was the youngest of 5 boys.
Jack was a man of many skills and careers. He was a pulp haul truck driver, worked on road construction, farmer, politician and realtor. He was a hard worker and from the many friends he made they would agree. He also enjoyed the time to wind down, relax, have some laughs with a drink in hand. He was a good provider for his family and made sure the kids never went without.
Jack married Marilyn Atkinson in 1968. They had three children, Sheri, Kim and Trevor. Growing up, we kept dad busy with our sports. As much as he enjoyed all sports and watching the games. He especially enjoyed hockey and ringette tournaments; bus trips were his favourite.
Once he started having grandchildren, they became the most important people in his life, He had four grandchildren. Connor, Gracie, Morgan and Chase.
Jack enjoyed hunting, fishing, ice fishing, gardening, his pontoon boat especially when he was pulling his grandchildren on the tube, camping, supper clubs and playing cards especially Kaiser. Watching sports cheering for the Roughriders, Blue Jays and Oilers. He enjoyed travelling but mostly to Arizona.
Jack stopped travelling as his health worsened. He tried not to let it slow him down. His new passion was then cutting grass on the lawn mower. It must have felt like the hours he spent in the field farming.
The hardest decision he had was agreeing to move off the farm and into town. Jack leaves to mourn, his daughter, Sheri Langford (David St Denis) of Prince Albert, SK.; daughter, Kim (Dale) Brown and their children, Morgan and Chase of Prince Albert, SK; and son, Trevor (Carmen) Langford and their children, Connor and Gracie of Sylvan Lake, AB; mother of his children, Marilyn (Atkinson) Langford of Prince Albert, SK; brother, Tom (Pauline) Langford; brother, George (Ruth) Langford; sister-in-law, Donna (Mike) Stratychuk; sister-in-law, Fern (Wayne) Boisson; sister-in-law, Karen (Rick) Cloarec; sister-in-law, Shelly (Jim) Risbey. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father, George Langford; mother, Jenny (Boran) Langford; brother, Jim (Violet) Langford; brother, Gordie (Annie) Langford; father-in-law, Walter Atkinson; mother-in-law, Edna (Oreel) Atkinson; brother-in-law, Bill Atkinson.
