Multiple school divisions removing some services on Tuesday, Wednesday

Feb 25, 2024 | 11:05 AM

In addition to withdrawing extracurricular supervision services on Monday as was announced last week, teachers in some school divisions around Saskatchewan will be withdrawing services on Tuesday and Wednesday.

According to the Saskatchewan Teacher’s Federation’s website, on Tuesday, teachers from the following divisions will not report to work.

All schools in the Île à la Crosse, Northwest, Sask. Distance Learning Centre’s northwest and southwest campuses, École Boréale, Chinook, and Prairie Valley School Divisions will have no teaching staff.

Also on Tuesday, teachers will not supervise students during the noon-hour break in the following school divisions:

All schools in the Horizon and Northeast School Divisions along with Holy Trinity, Regina Catholic, and South East Cornerstone divisions.

Teachers in some divisions will withdraw their services in five other school divisions for any extracurricular activities or time, including lunch hour and before and after school.

Those include the teachers in the Horizon and Creighton School Division’s along with Prairie South, and Regina public and Catholic divisions.

Further job action is planned for Wednesday as the STF escalates their pressure on the province.

Teachers in five divisions will not offer noon-hour supervision in Île à la Crosse, Christ the Teacher, Prairie Valley, Regina, and Sun West School Divisions.

No extracurricular participation will happen in Île à la Crosse, Living Sky, Light of Christ, or Sakewaw High School in North Battleford.

Farther afield, there will also be no extracurricular activity in Prairie Valley, Good Spirit, or the Saskatchewan Distance Learning Centre’s campuses anywhere in the province.

To help parents understand the teacher’s concerns and points of negotiation when dealing with the Education Ministry, parents and caregivers can attend a virtual Zoom meeting on Monday, Feb. 26, starting at 7 pm.
