Henri Joseph Daniel

1935 – 2024

Henri was born August 26, 1935 on a farm west of White Star, SK, and passed away on January 29, 2024 at the age of 88 years at the Grey Nuns Hospital Edmonton, AB

Henri is survived by his brother Remi (Geraldine) of Leduc, AB, and sister-in-law Shirley (Stulberg) Daniel of Saskatoon, SK. As well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Henri is predeceased by his mother Eugenie (nee Clavier) Daniel, his father Jacques Daniel, his sister Rose Daniel, his brothers Ernest Daniel and George Daniel, his sister-in-law Gayle (nee Einarson) Daniel; as well as numerous other relatives.

Henri left school at an early age and went to work for the Saskatchewan Department of Highways. After a few years Henri decided to further his education and become an Electrician. Henri worked in the Saskatoon area while taking his apprenticeship.

In the mid-sixties his uncle Andy Clavier from White Star was thinking of moving out of Saskatchewan and purchasing farm land in Alberta or BC, so the both of them went off to explore the possibly. Well it happened,  the Peace Country was it and Andy purchased land approximately 30 miles North West of Dawson Creek and Henri found work with an electrical contractor in Dawson Creek.

Henri travelled and worked in Faro Yukon, the W.A.C Bennett Dam, Hudson Hope BC during its construction, mid-sixties to 1968 and in later years for the South Peace School District.

Henri was diagnosed with dementia about 4 years ago and unfortunately it caused many issues and finally started to shut down his system.

Henri was a very special, wonderful kind man who will be missed by all who had the opportunity of knowing him.

Our heartfelt thanks to the Revera-Riverbend Care Home and Age Care South Terrace Edmonton for their compassionate care they provided and his nieces Bonnie Daniel Titford, Lona Daniel Gies who looked after his affairs, visited and gave him unconditional love for many years in Grande Prairie AB, as well as his nephew Danen Daniel who faithfully visited him every week during his stay in Edmonton, AB.

His brother Remi who watched over him and made sure he was well looked after during the last four years.

A Celebration of Henri’s life will be held at a later date in Groundbirch, Willow Valley BC.
