1932 – 2024
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Luella Adeline (nee Farncombe) Cochet, born April 10, 1932 at Imperial, Saskatchewan. She passed away in her sleep where she resided at Scott Towers in Saskatoon on January 22, 2024.
Luella is survived by: her daughter Judy Deroose and her children, Graham, Jamie, and Reid; her daughter Doris (Emile) Hounjet and their children, Nicole (Gary) Ball, Denis (Christa) Hounjet, Lisette (Tavis) McPherson, and Philip (Amanda) Hounjet; her son Gregory (Irene) Cochet and their children Mark (Nina) Cochet, Scott (Sarah) Cochet, and Elise (Braydon) Potter; her son Paul (Cecile) Cochet and their children Luc Cochet and Melissa (Tristan) Block; her daughter-in-law Jackie Cochet and her daughter Sheena Cochet. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her husband Berchmans “Berk” Cochet, her two sons Edward and Albert, her parents Albert and Ella Farncombe, her 3 sisters, and all her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law.
Luella was married in 1952 and lived on the farm between St. Louis and Birch Hills. They retired to Prince Albert in January of 1984. Her husband, Berk, passed away in October of that year. To keep busy she stuffed flyers at the PA herald, went on to work at The Bay, Woolco, then Walmart. When she turned 65 she moved to Carment Court where she lived for over 20 years. Her final move was to Saskatoon in December 2020 where she resided until her death. She had such a passion for crocheting and sewing and made countless afghans, dishcloths, doilies and quilts. The Victoria Hospital in Prince Albert has been the recipient of over 800 baby bonnets and 100 baby blankets. She was still knitting dishcloths the day before she passed away.
A special thank you to all the friends who looked out for her over the years at Carment Court and Scott Towers. Also thank you for all the expressions of sympathy and kindness in the last few days. Rest in peace dear mom, grandma and great-grandma.
