Ritchie back with Raiders, timeframe for return still unclear

Ryder Ritchie is back in Prince Albert, though his return to the lineup is still a ways off.

The star Prince Albert Raiders forward has returned to the team and skated Wednesday morning wearing a yellow non-contact jersey. The NHL prospect has not played since Dec. 15 when he suffered a lower body injury after colliding with Kelowna Rockets forward Max Graham.

Ritchie’s injury is considered week to week. The 17-year-old rehabilitated the injury away from the team since Christmas break.

“He is starting to skate with us…and obviously getting the therapy, the treatment, and all of the off ice stuff as well, getting his power back and what not,” said Raiders Head Coach Jeff Truitt. “Being around the group, he’s injected a little bit of excitement that way which is tremendous.”

“No timeframe yet. It’s kind of a day to day thing, week to week. I don’t know what the timeframe is now but it’s good that we’ve got eyes on him and you can see his improvement every day as we move forward here.”

“When he’s 100 per cent to go, we’ll go.”

The Raiders are 3-8-2 in Ritchie’s absence.
