It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Gregory Michael Nekurak on January 5th, 2024 after a hard fought battle with cancer. Gregory was better known as Greg by his friends and family in Saskatchewan, and as Mike by many friends and co-workers in BC. Greg was born in Saskatoon Sk on July 4th 1961. He was the oldest of 5 children born to Orest and Gertrude (Gertie) Nekurak.
Greg graduated high school from Carlton Comprehensive High school in 1979. Greg loved anything to do with cars and automotive. He had a 57 Chevy that he loved and babied but also drove the hell out of! In his younger years Greg played some rec hockey and ball on the KLS Supply Team. He also loved snowmobiling, bowling and golfed whenever he could, playing the Waskesiu lobstick during the summer. He enjoyed many sports but especially loved water skiing with family and fishing with his dad in Waskesiu. Greg worked several jobs in his early years in Prince Albert including Harold’s IGA, Frank Dunn Trailer and Western Grocers.
He and his family left Saskatchewan to live in Victoria BC around 1988.
While in Victoria Greg did various jobs. He continued to play golf, baseball and darts with the Army and Navy in Victoria
In 2000 Greg met whom he called “the love of his life Bonnie”. At that time they worked for TPM management where they managed and maintained an apartment complex. In 2009 they moved to Duncan BC where Greg worked at Napa for a few years. For the past 13 years Greg was employed at Bumper to Bumper aka (Duncan Auto parts) until he was no longer able to work. He continued to reside in Duncan until his passing.
