Stanley Korol
1932 – 2023
Stanley Korol, late of Smeaton, passed away on Wednesday, December 6th after a lengthy battle with cancer. He was 91.
Stanley is survived by his beloved wife Elizabeth “Liz”, his brother Joe (Doreen), and sister-in-law Olga Korol. He is also survived by his in-laws Florence Collins, Helen Beskorwayne (Harold), Tony Nakonechny, Leonard (Yvonne) Nakonechny, Olga (Roger) Godin, Lena (Merv) Wourms; and most precious to him over ninety nieces, nephews, and great nieces and great nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents John and Mary Shutko Korol; family members Steve (Marian) Korol, Walter (Francis) Korol, Bruno Korol, and his sister Lynn (Stan) Skulmoski. Also, nephews Larry Korol, Lonnie Korol, Brian Korol, Wayne Korol; and nieces Nicole Nakonechny and Denae Lawrence. Stanley was also predeceased by in-laws Paul Beskorwayne, Alex Nakonechny, Joe Nakonechny, Elsie Nakonechny, and Ruby Nakonechny.
Stanley farmed for many years in the Foxford-Smeaton area. Retirement brought more time for daily visits and coffee with his many friends. He loved to tell stories, sometimes embellished. Always that sparkle in his eyes and a smile on his face.
He loved animals most especially cats. Over the years, cats were a comfort to him. He loved hunting, ice fishing, mushroom and berry picking. He took pride in tending to a beautiful yard site.
Heartfelt thanks to all family and friends for the generous support given to Stanley, with your visits, when he was in palliative care at home for 18 months.
Thank you to Nadine RN in Smeaton, Roxanne RN from Nipawin Home Care, Kristen NP who looked after his medical needs. Thank you to Leotta for your barbering services and lovely conversations. Also, a big thank you to the most wonderful staff at Rose Garden Hospice.
You were all God’s Human Angels helping Stanley on the final journey of his life.
A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, 2023 at Gray’s Funeral Chapel, 575, 28th Street West, Prince Albert, SK. Interment to follow in the South Hill Cemetery, Prince Albert, SK.
