Klassic Kruizers Kar Klub hosts friendly competition in P.A. with Salvation Army kettles

Shoppers at Wal-Mart in Prince Albert had the opportunity to partake in a friendly competition involving two of the continent’s biggest car brands.

Using two of the Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettles, the Klassic Kruizers Kar Klub pinned Ford up against Chevrolet where people could put donations in the kettle for the brand they liked more.

Cal Reid and Don ‘Woody’ Woods were the two representatives from the club at the store with Reid said that they have been doing this every holiday season for the past few years.

“We’ve been doing this for four or five years now and we really enjoy it,” he said. “This is the first year here at Wal-Mart. We were at the [2nd avenue] liquor store and we’ve also been at Superstore the last few years but we’re excited to try this location.”

The initiative was spearheaded by club member Arne Lindberg. Additionally, it was mentioned that the club made a big donation this year by gifting toys and money to the Salvation Army.

“We have a Christmas party every year and we asked that the members bring in a new, unwrapped toy,” said Woods. “We also have a Hot Wheels competition and to enter, you have to make a donation so this year, I think we donated $120 and a ton of new unwrapped toys as well.”

As for who they were rooting for in the Ford vs Chevrolet competition, the two agreed that it wasn’t even a contest.

“It’s not even close, Chevy always wins.”

The Salvation Army’s Christmas Kettle Campaign runs until Dec. 23 with the goal of raising $100,000 for the organization’s feeding programs downtown.
