Donny Parenteau Performing with Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra

Dec 1, 2023 | 10:27 AM

With a lifetime of country music performance under his belt, Saskatchewan fiddler Donny Parenteau has always had a secret wish… To play with an orchestra. Now, just in time for Christmas, that wish is coming true. Parenteau will be the featured artist in Holiday Pops at TCU Place.

Parenteau’s own Christmas music has been arranged for the orchestra in its annual holiday spectacular. The performance is extra special because his tune I Love Christmas was one he recorded with his baby girl.

Parenteau and the SSO will also be joined by other special guests including the University of Saskatchewan Chorus and Aurora Voce choirs as they spread holiday cheer. Local favourite Garry Gable will be reprising his role reading and performing scenes from The Grinch Who Stole Christmas. This is truly a show for the whole family. Tickets are $63 – $87.

The SSO gifts keep on coming after Holiday Pops with a double-bill performance.

Handel’s Messiah, December 16th will be performed by the orchestra, the SSO Chorus, led by Duff Warkentin and guest soloists including Casey Penden, Oli Gusselle, Spencer McKnight and Brenden Freisen. Tickets are $46 – $52 and they are sure to sell out.

Sing-Along Messiah December 17th, is the audience’s chance to join in. This is a 110 year-old tradition in our city that will happen at Knox United Church. Tickets for this performance are $18 and for many, this is the kick off to Christmas.

Details for each performance are at www.saskatoonsymphony.org
