UPDATE: RCMP arrest man in connection to firearms incident in Montreal Lake

UPDATE: Waylon Nelson was arrested on Saturday evening in Prince Albert.

He is scheduled to appear in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Monday.

Montreal Lake and Waskesiu RCMP have issued a warrant for the arrest of a man in connection to a firearms incident that happened at Montreal Lake Cree Nation early Friday morning.

At around 5:20 a.m. police were called to the reserve for a report of an injured person.

An investigation found that there was an altercation between two people in which a gun was fired and a woman was seriously injured. She has since been taken to hospital where she continues to receive treatment.

As a result of the investigation, police have issued a warrant for the arrest of 25-year-old Waylon Nelson of Montreal Lake Cree Nation and charged him with discharging a firearm with intent to injure.

He stands 5-foot-10 and weighs approximately 194 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.

He is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached. If seen, call 9-1-1 and report the sighting to police.
